Strategic management is largely about determining how best to adapt a corporation to the changing external market. Historically, traditional analytic processes have been a reliably predictive tool for defining and evaluating strategic options… you could start by just looking at “the numbers.” However, this has all changed with the rise of the web and the power unleashed by information transparency, customer communities, “open” business models, and the almost unfathomable reach of monetization engines like Google. Strategy now requires a whole new set of tools to understand where to play and how to win in a non-linear world.
